Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Holo Alert medical alert systems, monitoring, billing, and shipping.
General
A medical alert system can provide peace of mind for you and your loved ones if you're concerned about getting help during an emergency. It's especially beneficial if you live alone, have a history of falls, take medications that affect balance, have mobility issues, or chronic health conditions. Medical alert systems are also valuable if you want to maintain your independence while ensuring help is always available at the touch of a button. If you're worried about your safety or your family has expressed concerns about you living alone, a medical alert system is a smart investment that can help you stay safe and independent in your own home.
The best medical alert systems in Canada offer reliable 24/7 monitoring, fall detection, GPS tracking, and cellular connectivity without requiring a landline. Key features to look for include waterproof design, two-way communication, North American-based monitoring centers, and nationwide cellular coverage. Holo Alert offers both the Holo Pro (with advanced fall detection and up to 7-day battery life) and Holo Mini (compact emergency alert device) designed specifically for Canadian seniors. When choosing a system, consider battery life, coverage area, monthly costs, and whether the device works both at home and on-the-go across Canada.

Monitoring
No, you don't need a landline or wifi for Holo Alert systems. Our devices use cellular technology and work anywhere with 4G LTE coverage across Canada. This means you stay protected whether you're at home, in your garden, or out in the community. The cellular connection is built right into the device, so there's no need for a home phone line or internet connection. This gives you the freedom to live independently while staying connected to help 24/7.
Yes, Holo Alert systems work in rural areas across Canada. Our devices use 4G LTE cellular networks to provide reliable coverage in most rural locations where you have cell phone service. Since we don't require landlines or wifi, you can stay protected even in remote areas. However, cellular coverage can vary by location and carrier. We recommend checking the cellular coverage in your specific area, and our team can help verify service availability before you order. If you have cell phone service at your location, Holo Alert will likely work for you.
No worries! Accidental button presses happen and it's actually a good way to test that your system is working properly. Simply tell the monitoring specialist that it was an accidental press when they answer your call. Our trained operators understand that false alarms occur and will quickly verify that you're okay. There's no penalty or extra charge for accidental activations. We'd rather you press the button when you don't need help than hesitate to use it during a real emergency.
Medical alert systems use built-in sensors called accelerometers to detect sudden changes in movement that indicate a fall. When a fall is detected, the device automatically connects you to our 24/7 monitoring center within seconds. You can also manually activate the system anytime by pressing the help button. Our specialists can assess your situation through the device's two-way speaker and send help if needed. You can cancel false alarms if you're okay. While highly accurate, we recommend always pressing your help button manually when you need assistance.
