How it works
When you need us, here is exactly what happens
Three steps. Moments, not hours.

A live care team member answers through the device.
A real person in our Canadian response centre speaks with you in moments, confirms what you need, and stays with you.
The right help is on the way.
Emergency services, a neighbour, or your family. Our team sends the right help to your location and notifies your emergency contacts.

Local support
Provincial programs worth knowing about
Supports that help people stay in their own homes here. Holo Alert is not affiliated with any of them, and eligibility is decided by the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador.
Home Support Program
Provides in-home assistance so people can keep living safely at home, including personal care, help with mobility, light housekeeping, meal preparation and respite for family caregivers.
Residents aged 65 and over with an assessed care need may be eligible, as may people with disabilities, people receiving end of life care, and anyone needing short term support after a hospital stay.
Government of Newfoundland and LabradorHome Modification Program
Provides a forgivable loan of up to $15,000 as of the 2026 budget for accessibility work such as handrails, grab bars, accessible showers and ramps.
Homeowners who need an accessibility modification, with household income up to $51,500, or $65,000 in Labrador, may be eligible. An occupational therapist recommendation is required for major work such as bathroom changes or ramps.
Government of Newfoundland and LabradorProvincial Home Repair Program
Helps homeowners with lower incomes complete structural repairs and bring a house up to minimum fire and life safety standards, covering heating, electrical and plumbing work. As of the 2026 budget the forgivable amount doubled to $10,000, or $13,000 in Labrador, with a $30,000 lifetime maximum.
Homeowners with household income at or below $42,500, or $65,000 in Labrador, may be eligible.
Government of Newfoundland and LabradorAging Well at Home Grant
For the 2025 to 2026 intake, this grant provided $400 a year toward household and health related services such as snow clearing, home cleaning, and grocery or prescription delivery. Amounts and intake dates change from year to year, so confirm the current details with the province.
Residents aged 65 and over who own or rent a home, with household net income no more than $32,700 for a single applicant or $50,000 for a couple, may be eligible.
Government of Newfoundland and LabradorProgram details and eligibility change over time; confirm with each program directly. Holo Alert is independent and not affiliated with these programs.
Made for Newfoundland and Labrador
What a medical alert system looks like here
You already know how the winter goes. The wind comes up the harbour, the snow arrives sideways in January, and the plow gets to the main road well before it gets to yours. The nearest emergency department may be a long drive, and the people who would notice a quiet afternoon are the ones you would rather not worry. None of that is a reason to leave the house you have lived in for forty years. It is a reason to carry something that can reach a real person without a phone in your hand.
Holo Alert is a small device you wear, on a pendant or on the wrist. Press the button and a live care team member in Canada speaks to you through the device itself, wherever you are standing. If a hard fall registers and you cannot press anything, the device makes that call on its own. The wireless connection is built in, so there is no landline to keep, no home internet to arrange, and nothing that quits when the power goes out in a storm.
Most people would rather ask questions than read a page. Call, and a Canadian care team member will ask about the house, the routine, and what wireless coverage looks like at your address. Then they will say plainly which device suits and which one does not. If the answer is that coverage where you live is too thin, they will tell you that too.
- Works anywhere in the province with wireless coverage, in the house or out
- No landline, no home internet and no smartphone needed
- Fall detection places the call if you cannot press the button yourself
- A live Canadian care team, awake through a January nor'easter
- Plans from $49.95 a month, about $1.65 a day
Built for Newfoundland and Labrador
What you get with Holo Alert in Newfoundland and Labrador
Everything a medical alert should do, wherever your day takes you.
Fall detection, included
Every Holo Alert plan includes fall detection at no extra charge. If a hard fall registers, the device calls on its own. It does not catch every fall, so press the button whenever you can.
Two-way voice, from the device
Speak with a Canadian care team member through the device you are wearing, rather than trying to reach a phone in another room.
Built for long distances
Location services help the care team place you, whether you are home in Corner Brook or partway along the highway to Gander. Accuracy varies with network conditions and indoor surroundings.
Answered around the clock
North American monitoring stations are staffed every hour of the year, including Christmas morning and the middle of a February storm.
Family can stay in the loop
The Holo Pro pairs with a caregiver app, so a son in St. John's or a daughter in Alberta can check in without phoning three times a day.
Health readings on the watch styles
The Holo Active carries heart rate and body temperature alongside the SOS button, on a watch that looks like a watch.

Common hesitations
If you are thinking "not yet", read this first
Every customer started with one of these.
I am still active. I do not need one yet.
Most falls happen to active people doing everyday things. One in three seniors falls each year, and most did not see it coming. Holo Alert is like a seatbelt: you wear it hoping you never need it, and it is already there if you do.
The best time to get protected is before you need it.
I do not want to wear something that looks medical.
Neither do our customers. The Holo Active looks like a modern smartwatch, and the Holo Pro pendant is small enough to tuck under a shirt. No one has to know unless you tell them.
Protection that looks like a watch, not a warning label.
My phone already has fall detection.
A phone is not built for emergencies. It needs daily charging, it can be out of reach, and it calls 911 rather than a trained care team member who knows your situation and who to contact. Holo Alert works on its own, with a single press or an automatic alert.
A phone across the room is not a safety plan.
It is probably complicated to set up.
Your device arrives programmed, charged, and ready to wear. Then our care team calls you to run a live test together and answer every question. Most people are fully set up in about five minutes.
If you can open a box, you can set up Holo Alert.

Fall detection does not detect all falls. Gradual slides, slow collapses, or certain movements may not trigger an alert. Customers should press the SOS button manually if able.
Location accuracy varies and may be affected by network availability, indoor environments, and other factors.
Holo Alert does not replace 911 or emergency medical services.
Monthly plans are billed month to month with no contract or cancellation fee. Annual plans are billed for the full year upfront at a reduced rate and include a free device. Annual plans are non-refundable after the 10-day risk-free guarantee period. Both plan types are covered by the 10-day risk-free guarantee when you first sign up.
Statistics cited reflect publicly available Canadian public health data and industry research on falls among older adults and emergency response outcomes; sources are noted alongside each figure. Government program details change over time and should be confirmed with each program directly.
